Very
Honorable Master,
I
am a retired professor helping students in the writing a school paper
on Thinkers and Philosophers of Ancient China. They provided me with
this fragment of thinker LAO-TSE, and we need the complete text and
the book where it appears to present it in class. The fragment is the
following:
"Truthful
words are not beautiful.
Beautiful words are not truthful.
Good men do not argue.
Those who argue are not good.
Those who know are not learned.
The learned do not know.
The sage never tries to store things up.
The more he does for others, the more
He has.
The more he gives to others, the
Greater his abundance.
The Tao of heaven is pointed but does
No harm.
The Tao of the sage is work without
Effort."
I
have researched in several sources and don¡¯t find the complete text.
For example: (a) The Tao-te Ching book of the Straight Path, translated
by Ch¡äu Ta-Kao (b) In the library of the University of Valencia. (c)
Surfing the Internet, with no results.
I
will be very grateful if you provide me with the complete text. It is
very important for us have this text, the name of the poem and book
where it appears, thus to be able to show it to the teacher of our school.
Very Honorable Master Tien, I am sure that you will help us in this
matter. Looking forward to hear news from you, thank you for taken care
of us.
Kindly
yours,
Jesus
